It's "Love Your Body Week!"

In honor of "Love Your Body Week", I wanted to dedicate a post to bring awareness on body positivity! Daily, we scroll through our Instagram, turn the pages of magazines, and walk around billboards that have women and men that have been photoshopped and edited to fit into a certain beauty standard. As a result of this, we have become accustomed to "trash talk" our bodies, and we start to focus on the attributes that we don't have. Trust me. I am guilty of doing this too. We have been taught that if we don't fit in the specific beauty norms, that we are no longer considered pretty, and I want to tell you that this is not true.

“Society has created a distorted perception of beauty.” - Unknown

Listen. We are all perfectly imperfect, whether you are curvy, lean, tall, short, have stretch marks, booty, or no booty. The way your body looks should not make you feel any less than somebody. Your body is unique to you, and you should healthily embrace every part of it. Could you imagine your body on anybody else? No, because it is meant to be yours! So own it! Being that there are two more days left in "Love Your Body Week", you can start some body-positive exercises to lead you down a path of acceptance and happiness.

My top three recommendations are to:

1. Focus on what you love!

We all love at least one thing about our bodies. Stick with that and cherish it like there is no tomorrow. Loving your body is a process, so, usually, you won't immediately accept your beautiful body (and that is ok!). But, apart from your body, do things that make you feel better. Do you like singing? Do you enjoy painting? Do you enjoy being with your friends? Whatever it, find the time to do the things you love!

2. Practice Positive Thinking!

An example can be writing positive affirmations in every mirror in your home. The more you read, the more you will start believing in those statements. You could also practice by starting the day with a compliment to yourself! This will boost your confidence, all while creating healthy self-esteem.

3. Respect and Love Others

Think positivity of yourself and others. Just like you, other people are also going through the process of loving their bodies. Share the love around and make sure they know they are loved. Accept each other at any size! Compliment their ideas, behaviors, and character so that you and they can develop more self-appreciation, self-acceptance, and self-love.

With that in mind , let's practice positive thinking! Please read the following:

1. I love my body as it is today.

2. I am thankful for my strength.

3. I take care of my body and my body takes care of me.

4. Food is not the enemy and I thank the food I eat for nourishing me.

5. My worth isn't defined by my weight. I define my worth and I am worthy.

6. I am grateful for my body. I want to treat it with love and respect.

7. I am learning how to love my body.

8. I love my body along every step of my journey.

9. I am beautiful.

10. I am enough.

Keep these in mind as you continue on your day and remind yourself that you are perfect just the way you are. Happy Love Your Body Week!
